Why is my small Kenmore Refrigerator not cold on the inside?

I have a small Kenmore Refrigerator in my dorm room at school and when i plugged it in the inside did not get cold. It gets cool on the outside but not the inside. What should I do?

If the unit is actually getting cold on the outside, it sounds as though you have the condensor fan blocked. Any A/C unit needs room to breathe.
Also, you will not be able to hear the compressor in an ‘apartment’ fridge. It is just too small, and you’ll only hear the fan.

My guess is that you have it up against a wall or the evaporator coil is clogged with animal hair. The evaporator is freezing over with condensation, thus giving the cool effect on the outside of the unit.

There are really too many variations to take into account without seeing the unit in person, but these would be my main guesses: Blocked air-flow, or, blocked air-flow.
