Pumping from a pond to water crops?

I have a large water pump which is basically an inlet (75mm), outlet (75mm) and a pulley to attach 3 belts to drive it.
I hope to pump water from a pond to a field which is about 130 meters away. The water will only need to be lifted about 3 meters over this distance. I have no idea what I am doing so could do with a bit of help.
The pump has a very small 3mm outlet at the bottom of the inlet side and water slowly runs from this. Do I need to prime the pump and if so how do I do it?
I will be using the drive belts from the mower that will be connected to the PTO shaft of the tractor.
One concern is the RPM, as the pulley on the mower turns the water pulley pump 5.5 turns for every one turn of the mower pulley.
The tractor PTO shaft runs at 540 rpm on tickover
There are no specifications written on the pump, it weighs about 40 kg and is probably about 50 – 60 years old

fill the inlet line and pump with water that will be your prim. the leak sounds like it is the prime spot and might require a device to plug it. the tractor will run at idle. when the water begins to move out the outlet side you may increase the speed of tractor.
If all fails get the make and model of the pump and search on line for the specifics. you will be surprised the info you will find.
