Lawn mower grass thing?
on the side of the mower there is something that shoots grass back out instead of keeping it in the grass What is it called? Why do we need it?
That’s a side discharge chute and it’s purpose is to do what you say it is doing. Mulching mowers are most likely rear bag or mulching by the addition of a plug which replaces the bag. A 3 way mower would offer a side discharge chute as well. I suspect your model is side discharge or bag , no mulch.
