Does the new attachments fit on the older model kitchen aid mixers?
I am buying an older model K5 kitchen aid mixer off of craigslist and wanted to know if the attachments that you buy in the store would fit on this model
You are probably buying a Hobart Kitchenaid, either a K5-A or a K5SS (solid state). If you are buying a used Whirlpool Kitchenaid K5, save your money for an older Hobart!
Both the K5-A and the K5SS can use the 5 quart attachments currently sold by Whirlpool Kitchenaid. To avoid the cheapness of the all plastic and plastic-coated Whirlpool Kitchenaid attachments, I would suggest checking out ebay for the sturdier all metal attachments that Hobart made before the 1970′s (Hobart’s plastic coated ones did not hold up well over time either).
Good luck and enjoy your machine! Remeber, your Hobart will be taken by your grandkids in 60 years, your Whirlpool be be taken by your garbageman tomorrow…
