is it legal in california to put a kawasaki engine into an older, smaller car, such as a 1970 fiat 500?

i want to put a kawasaki engine with reverse into a fiat 500 or fiat 126. i want to use the older model, like a 1970.so my question is, is it legal in california, if not, what are the reasons? thanks

Let me start out by saying I’m not always right when it comes to auto repair. Last year I had some problems with my Toyota 4Runner and I wasn’t sure how to fix them. I tried to search the web for tips, but the procedures were way too difficult for my skills. I ended up going to the dealship for my repairs. The dealership tends to charge more than mom and pop repair shops, but they’ve seen all sorts of situations (auto insurance problems, repair warranty issues, etc) and they seem to always find a way to help me.
