What is the expected lifespan of a “glowbar” igniter model # WB2X9154?

Also, what is the glowing material made of exactly?

It’s for my GE oven model number JGBP26WEH3WW

As in a lot of things, the answer is ‘it depends’. They should last at least five years under normal use but I’ve replaced them in the past and am back out again in 6 months replacing it again. People who live in high vibration environments (near train tracks, heavily traveled roadway, etc) will see the life of the igniter be reduced because the minute vibrations. Also if their is heavy foot traffic in the kitchen the igniter won’t last as long as normal. Using the self clean feature a lot will also reduce its lifespan. And obviously if you use the oven quite often you will be replacing it more often. Another reason if it is installed incorrectly and their is stress on the igniter body it will go bad. Funny thing about these ignites is they will glow and appear to be fine but are not producing the correct resistance for the rest of the system to work so you have no choice but to replace it.
