How do I link an external gas tank to my original tank to let it run longer between refuels?

This is for a power generator that has a small gas tank and only runs for 2.7 hrs. I hear there may be a special gas cap adapter and / or setup that would allow me to link an external gas tank to the original and allow me to run the generator longer. Is this possible?

I’m sure it is possible. Ask where you’re making the purchase if it can be done with an adapter, they might know.
