How do you repair dishwasher racks?

My washer is plastic coating is worn from use, and the metal was exposed to water and detergent cause rust at key points in my dishes, pots and pans go. Also at the top of the branches where cups and glasses to go. I know you can buy these little things go in nubby teeth, but what I can do the network where the antenna? Is there a special paint that can put in it to cover rust? Where do they sell? The purchase of a new dishwasher is out of question.
